Senior Animator

Job Purpose

Build high quality motions through key frame animation and editing motion capture data. Work closely with the Lead Artist and Producer to address all issues related to the project’s animation. This includes establishing the animation style, defining the work flow and communicating important schedule information. Work in a range of styles. Ensure the visual quality and game-play of the product through tuning (rebuilding), bug fixing, and play-testing. Collaborate with engineers on tools and techniques.

Major Responsibilities

  • Create the content of the game - Build key frame animations and work with motion capture data to create high quality simple to complex biped and quadruped animation sets. Work within the established technical specifications and process for building. Use knowledge to maximize game content within these constraints while maintaining a clear understanding and appreciation of schedules and milestones.
  • Match the objects to the look and feel for spaces - Ability to work under a Lead Artist, staying within the established aesthetics of the project. As established by the Lead Artist, each artist has a chance to contribute to the vision of the space by pushing to achieve the highest quality possible within the specifications.
  • Be proactive - Work effectively with Technical Lead and Art Lead so that they are aware of concerns and issues dealing with animation production.

Qualifications

  • Strong skills animating humans, animals, and/or objects such as weapons or vehicles apparent in portfolio
  • Key Frame Animation Experience
  • Extensive experience in character rigging, skinning and weighting
  • Knowledge of 3D Studio Max preferred; knowledge of Motion Builder is a plus

Shader Artist

Job Purpose

As a Shader Artist at Red Storm Entertainment you will assist in the creation of textures and shaders for game environments, characters, vehicles, weapons and real world assets. This includes establishing pipelines, defining the work flow and communicating important schedule information to the Lead Technical Artist and Producers. You will be responsible for creating and manipulating texture sets in addition to learning our proprietary shader system for next-generation content. Work with the project's Lead Artist(s) to fulfill the primary feature requirements of the game, and contribute to the team's goal of reaching the project's vision. Ensure the visual quality and game-play of the product through tuning (rebuilding), bug fixing, and play-testing. Collaborate with engineers on tools and techniques.

  • Portfolio should demonstrate a strong traditional art background in addition to strong texturing skills -- both with use of photo-material and through digital painting -- applied to characters, props, and environments.

SFX Artist

Job Purpose

To create all aspects of high quality 2D and 3D game effects using proprietary tools. This includes particle systems, animating textures, polygonal effects, and assets to be used by artists and engineers. Work with the project's Lead Artist(s) to fulfill the primary feature requirements of the game, and contribute to the team's goal of reaching the project's vision. Ensure the visual quality and game-play of the product through tuning (rebuilding), bug fixing, and play-testing. Collaborate with engineers on tools and techniques.

Game Systems Engineer

Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. is looking for an individual to create animation systems and support tools for next-generation games. This individual will work closely with other engineers and other departments to facilitate the use of these tools and implementation of these systems in the development of games for a AAA franchise.

  • Integrate engine features with game features
  • Provide hooks between low-level technology and game-level systems

Animation Engineer

Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. is looking for an individual to create animation systems and support tools for next-generation games. This individual will work closely with other engineers and other departments to facilitate the use of these tools and implementation of these systems in the development of games for a AAA franchise.

  • Design, implement and debug animation systems for next generation console games

AI Engineer

Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. is looking for an individual that will work closely with development teams to design and program AI systems for a next-generation first-person shooter game. This entails multiple levels of AI, and touches on several areas including navigation, behaviors, group coordination, environment awareness, tactics, goal-based planning, and terrain analysis to mention a few! A desire to design and implement support and scripting tools for content creators is a must.

Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. is looking for an individual to work closely with engineers, artists and designers to design and implement next-generation engines for a first-person shooter game. This can entail working with low-level rendering, implementing graphics technology into game systems and developing tools to support artists in working with graphics technology.

Responsibilities

  • Help design and implement a rendering engine on consoles and PC hardware
  • Help design and implement graphics features
  • Implement tools used to preview and manipulate art assets
  • Contribute to the development and maintenances of the asset pipeline

Technical Writer

Red Storm Entertainment, Inc. is looking for an individual to design, create, maintain and update various types of technical documentation, online help, user guides, white papers, design specifications and various other documents to facilitate information flow and recording. The individual must have solid written and verbal communication skills and the ability to communicate effectively with a diverse group of creative people.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and clarify technical information
  • Work closely with all departments to gather data
  • Create and maintain a variety of documentation
  • Review and improve written documentation to maximize clarity
  • Integrate existing documentation into new documentation methodologies where necessary

Game Designer

Job Purpose

Work in a variety of design roles, from Lead to scripting, to ensure the success of the assigned project. Work with or lead the Design team to fulfill the positioning and primary feature requirements of the game, and contribute to the team’s goal of reaching the project’s primary vision. Fulfill game-related design and writing tasks. Implement and document gameplay and employ consensus to improve the game. Provide competitive intelligence to the Design department. Major Responsibilities

  • Employ consensus to improve the game design and vision - proactive in creating the design based upon objective and subjective factors. Objective factors primarily include engineering and testing concerns; subjective factors include the consensus of the team working on the project, the design department, and management
  • Communicate the vision of the game to team, management, other departments, and the public - The Designer, if serving as a Lead, must be prepared to provide a concise and complete presentation on the core vision of the game to any audience.
  • Assist the Producer in overseeing the implementation of features - must constantly review the progress of the game and adjust the implementation of the features to match the vision.
  • Create, document and prepare a variety of concepts for production – formalize and pitch concepts for features and gameplay; responsible for taking feedback from those pitches and integrating it into the process.
  • Serve in assigned role on the project – may range from Lead to scripting.
  • Create design documentation - The game design document consists of a comprehensive and explicit enumeration of all features the Designer is responsible for, including implementation options. For a Designer serving as a Lead, this includes all features.
  • Implement the gameplay of the game - utilize tools provided by the project team to implement gameplay as directed by the documented vision of the Lead Designer of that project.
  • Document the gameplay of the game - Each element of gameplay implemented by the Designer must have a consistent and comprehensive document prepared to support and describe it. This documentation must be in sufficient detail to allow testing personnel, as well as fellow Designers, to replicate the gameplay implementation in the absence of the Designer.
  • Employ consensus to improve gameplay – be proactive in changing the design based upon objective and subjective factors.
  • Provide competitive intelligence to the company - may be assigned game reviews, wherein a potentially competing game needs to be analyzed.
  • Provide support to games in production – if asked, expected to provide feedback to other designers on ideas, features, gameplay, and design documents

Put the “play” into gameplay by scripting missions, balancing features and working with the team to tune the gameplay experience. Ensure the subjective quality of the gameplay of the game through scripting, playtesting and balancing. Implement and document gameplay, and employ consensus to improve the game. Provide competitive intelligence to the Design department.
